As you can see in the map above, we went only 71 nautical miles from San Juan to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. The ship arrived in St. Thomas around 7:00 AM. St Thomas is a very nice port of call, even your U.S. cellular telephones work in there. At St Thomas, we had to take tenders to shore and back to the ship. We did a little shopping with our new friends we met on the Opera, Mary Carmen Couture and Helen Skopic. We return via the tender just after 12 noon and enjoyed lunch and the music of Los Reyes Paraguayos on the II patio. This became a habit of ours for most of the cruise. Los Reyes Paraguayos, who live in Barcelona, Spain, usually played between 12 noon and 2:30 PM on the patio next to the hamburger and pizza area. There was a large group of Latin people onboard, most of them were Spanish from Spain. Usually, most of them, including Carmen and I could be found on the II Patio during lunch. |
