We arrived in Bridgetown, Barbados around 6:00 AM.  We tied up at their pier and were able to go visiting by just after 7:00 AM.  We were in no hurry; we had not booked any excursions.  We are presently scheduled to be back in Bridgetown, Barbados on the 24 of October 2006.  I have already book an excursion to the Mount Gay Distillery.  Any way, we got off the Opera a proceeded to walk off the pier.  There was a bus next to our ship, but we walk right by it.  That was a big mistake, what look to be a short distance turn into several blocks; my knees did not like my decision.  At the end of the pier they had a small mall and we finely made it while my knees were screaming to me.  We did a little shopping in the mall and just outside the mall.  It was only a couple of blocks more to walk to the center of town, but my knees told me to forget it!  We got on the bus and went back to the ship.  We really did not see any of Bridgetown, Barbados.  However, we will return in October of 2006 on the Holland America Maasdam and make up for lost time.

As you can see from the map below, we stop at five different islands and even with my bad knees seen a lot of new things and had a fantastic time while traveling over 1600 miles from Fort Lauderdale.  We spent 5 wonderful days in the beautiful Caribbean while traveling around 500 miles.  We have now only 2600 miles to Santa Cruz, Tenerife and just another 700 miles to Cadiz, Spain. So, it looks like we will have travel over 5900 miles to get next to Carmen's home town of Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, Spain.
