.Cozumel was hit very hard last year with a hurricane, the eye of Wilma on th 21st of October 2005, went over Cozumel.  Piers, building and business disapeared.  It sure did not look like the Cozumel of 2002 - 2005, the jewel of the Caribbean shopping.  Carmen and I had came to Cozumel in the mid 80's on the Veracruz, I am pictured above on our first cruise.  The Veracruz was the first cruise ship to call on Cozumel and it was a small sleepy island were drivers when on holiday..  It looked a lot like that this time with most of the things add had disappeared in the hurricane.  Because most of the piers had been distroyed, we took a walk taxi into Cozumel.  Better than have of the large tourist area at the large pier was no more.  Only a couple pieces of the pier was still standing.  But, we got off the water taxi on a piece of the pier and walked into the tourist area.  We deceided to take a cap to town and do some shopping in town.  Merchi and Carmen spent over an hour looking at diamonds.  But we did not get any thing, just a couple of hours in one store.  The rest of us wander around and did some like shopping.  After a while, we took another cab back up the hill to the tourist area around the ship's pier.  It looks like it will take Cozumel two or three more years until it returns to the glory prior to Wilma.   We pickup a few things in the tourist area and then took the water taxi back to our new home, The Miracle......
